About Kitano International Saturday School

Our International Saturday School offers a distinctive and enriching learning experience, immersing students in an English-language environment every Saturday. With a strong focus on Language Arts, Social Studies, STEAM (including Mathematics), ICT, and Minecraft Education, students engage with a wide range of subjects including culture, current events, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Each session provides hands-on learning opportunities, encouraging students to explore complex ideas through discussion and debate, while tackling challenges in math, science, coding, and design. We offer a growing library of English books, promoting reading and literacy by encouraging students to borrow books weekly and maintain a special journal to document their reading journey.

Students also have the chance to participate in annual field trips, community events, and initiatives centered around environmental and social activism. In our small, close-knit classes, every student receives personalized attention to develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the process of learning English together.

*Families who are interested in having their children attend our Saturday School program are encouraged to bring their child to observe our Saturday School in action and experience a free trial for their child.

A Message from the Director,

The Kitano International Saturday School was created to address a gap in our own daughter’s English education that could not be filled by other Saturday schools or traditional, Japanese-run English schools. As third-culture kids, they are primarily educated in a language and culture that neither of their parents are fluent in. While they are thriving in Japanese schools and have become fluent in Japanese, it is crucial for them to have a dedicated day each week to immerse themselves in English, replicating the experience of an international school setting and allowing them to engage with other English-speaking peers.

It is equally important to me that they learn about activism, environmental stewardship, and their responsibilities as global citizens. This weekly program provides a full day of education where students can think critically, express themselves, and engage in meaningful discussions in English. It is designed to help them develop into thoughtful, responsible citizens of the world.
